About us
George V. Ashley Jr. is our church's Pastor. His responsibility
is to shepherd the flock of God.
He is focused on the Word and work of God, knowing that he will give an account
to our Chief Shepherd the Lord Jesus Christ. We have Sunday morning
worship in our church building. It is contemporary/traditional worship, with a contemporary
worship band.
We are a bible based church. Our
church is more than just a building, its a fellowship of believers
gathered for the purpose of worshiping God and helping each other
build ourselves up in how Jesus wants us to live.
History
The early Christian church originally met
in people's homes. Often these 'churches' held their worship
in secret for fear of persecution. It wasn't until much later
that people started going to 'meeting places' that were not homes to
worship God. God has been gracious enough to give us His Word
from which we can study. We are a church plant of Grace Memorial Church
in Colmar Manor, MD.(1979). Our founding Pastor was Pastor L. Samuel Martz.
At the time, he was the Senior Pastor of Grace Memorial Church. We started with
bible study groups that met in homes (Weds. and Sun. nights)
and our worship on Sunday was first at Lamont Elementary School, and then
Washington Bible College for several years.
Eventually God provided a plot of land and many dedicated Christian
workers to build our own meeting facility.
There is ample room for parking and the building and site complies
with the American Disabilities Act.
We support a number of missionaries in different parts of the world.
Because we offer direct support you can be assured that every thing that you
give to our church does support our missionaries in those fields.
Additionally our location in the metropolitan Washington D. C. area provides a place
where people of all races and backgrounds can gather to worship our Lord Jesus Christ. |
